Facilities Maintenance & Construction Specialist
Description
On the Facilities team, a Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and stewardship of our facilities while assisting with construction projects as needed. This role requires expert-level proficiency in at least one specialized trade, such as carpentry, heavy equipment operation, HVAC (licensed), plumbing, or electrical work, along with a willingness to serve in other areas as needed. As a ministry-focused organization, Specialists should approach their work with a heart for service, excellence, and a commitment to supporting our mission through the upkeep and care of our facilities.

Description of Duties
Facilities Maintenance Technicians are responsible for:
- Collaborating with team members under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor.
- Performing minor and major repairs on buildings, systems, and equipment.
- Conducting scheduled preventive maintenance on building mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Addressing emergency maintenance requests efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Repairing or replacing building components, including doors, locks, windows, drywall, and plaster.
- Installing, repairing, or replacing electrical wiring and equipment, including control circuits, switches, and refrigeration systems.
- Conducting plumbing repairs, such as fixing toilets, faucets, and other fixtures.
- Assisting with carpentry projects, including framing, remodeling, and renovations.
- Performing landscaping duties, such as mowing, irrigation repair, and seasonal maintenance.
- Operating tools, equipment, and software necessary for tasks, including maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Removing snow and managing outdoor custodial duties as needed.
- Upholding safety standards by following OSHA regulations and addressing workplace hazards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience and proficiency in facilities maintenance, construction, welding, and/or related trades.
- Strong technical skills and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards relevant to facilities maintenance and construction.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record; additional certifications or licenses may be required depending on job duties and responsibilities.
Other Requirements and Characteristics:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
- Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces, as well as in various weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment safely.
