Lead Security Patrol Officer
Description
The Safety and Security Lead is a key member of the Safety & Security Leadership team. This team member will report directly to the Safety & Security Manager in collaboration with the TACS Division (a focus group that manages safety, compliance, risk management, and mitigation of Resort Operations). The Safety Officer Lead will serve as Chair for the Resort Safety Committees, manage all OSHA compliance, collaborate with internal and external partners on safety-focused projects, and work directly with the Safety & Security Manager in daily operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures proper execution of assigned duties.
- Maintains a professional appearance, demeanor, and reputation.
- Adheres to, promotes, and enforces all guest service policies and procedures established within the Big Cedar Lodge Service Standards.
- Serves as an ambassador to the Big Cedar Resort Services Department, interacting with guests and providing genuine Ozark Hospitality.
- Reviews daily reports, summarizes, and submits all activity to the management team.
- Coordinates and develops safety management program resources and training materials, measuring the success of redesigned programs and safety projects.
- Develops and implements accident prevention strategies for safety and injury prevention programs to reduce accidents and casualty-related costs.
- Identifies and analyzes emerging risks, evaluates hazardous conditions and trends, develops solutions, and creates training content to eliminate workplace hazards and exposures.
- Creates and implements safety team project timelines, sets targets and milestones, and provides clear expectations to team members and stakeholders.
- Researches and coordinates with stakeholders on all project elements, develops action plans, and assigns roles and responsibilities.
- Maintains direct and open interaction with leadership, stakeholders, and risk management team members to ensure project resources are available.
- Tracks all projects to successful completion, maintaining self-accountability.
- Acts as a liaison and resource to operations management for overall risk, claims management, and safety-related matters.
- Performs Resort Safety Audits to ensure safe working conditions, partners with leaders on areas of concern, and develops training content for emerging trends.
- Manages research, testing, and deployment of new equipment; designs change implications and operational process changes with internal departments and outside vendors.
- Manages all OSHA compliance and assists in responding to OSHA citations, hazardous material reporting, and other regulatory matters related to safety and risk control.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Degree: College Degree.
- Experience: 2 years in hospitality communications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Communicates effectively in writing based on audience needs.
- Basic computer skills, including working with common software and internet browsers.
- Knowledge of personnel and human resources procedures, including recruitment, training, compensation, and labor relations.
- Knowledge of laws and government regulations applicable to the role (OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA, ASI).
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including managing files and records, word processing, and office terminology.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to recognize patterns, identify implications, and draw conclusions.
- Knowledge of training design, teaching methods, and measurement of training effectiveness.
- Knowledge of customer and personal service principles, including meeting quality standards and assessing satisfaction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely without assistance.
Ability to sit, stand, squat, lift, and/or walk for the duration of the scheduled shift (up to 10 hours).
Ability to maneuver wilderness terrain without assistance.
Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to understand, interpret, and execute verbal and written instructions.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
