Job Description:
The Surgical Technologist II is a vital member of the perioperative healthcare team and functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role performs a variety of technical and supportive functions to assist with patient care throughout the perioperative phase of hospitalization. The Surgical Technologist II ensures that operating rooms are properly prepared, sterile fields are maintained, and surgical instruments and supplies are available and functioning. This position follows all hospital and departmental standards, policies, protocols, and procedures while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, quality outcomes, and teamwork in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Surgical Technologists II support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff before, during, and after surgical procedures. Responsibilities include anticipating the needs of the surgical team, passing instruments and supplies, assisting with equipment setup, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures. The role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing clinical situations.

Education:

• Required: Graduate from a school of Surgical Technology or five years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Experience:

• Preferred: Previous hospital and/or work experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
