Job Description:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides advanced anesthesia care using current physiologic, anesthesia science, and holistic care principles. This role is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized anesthesia plans of care, implementing and evaluating anesthesia services, and ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes throughout the perioperative process.

The CRNA functions as a clinical leader within the anesthesia care team, coordinating and directing care delivered by other team members in alignment with Standards of Nurse Anesthesia Practice and national professional guidelines. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex patient care scenarios while promoting efficiency, safety, and patient-centered outcomes.

Education:

  • Required: Completion of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in a critical care setting OR one (1) year of experience as a CRNA.

Skills:

  • Ability to assess departmental scope of care in alignment with organizational values, mission, and strategic goals.
  • Working knowledge of human relations, customer service principles, and inventory management.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple team members while managing numerous requests and deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing education through continuous review of current anesthesia practices and recertification requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated competence and adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety standards.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Required: Active Missouri Registered Nurse license.
  • Required: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 365 days of hire.
